FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 31, 2022, Tulsa, Okla. - The Palomino Horse Breeders Heritage Foundation brought an evening of joy and celebration to the 2022 PHBA National Convention on Thursday, March 17 at the PHBA National Headquarters and Heritage Museum. Throughout Thursday evening, convention participants received free transportation from the host hotel to the headquarters where Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas all celebrated their 80th anniversary as official PHBA Affiliate Associations. Members nationwide received free tours of the museum, met current and past hall of fame members, and raised a glass toasting the future of the Palomino Horse. PHBHF President Alda Buresh was astonished by the crowd in attendance. "We expected maybe 40-50 convention attendees to come to the reception, but when a bus arrived full of PHBA youth members, not only did my heart fill, I also felt at ease knowing the future of PHBA was going to be in great hands," said Buresh.
The evening's festivities included a Visor raffle where a donation of $100 provided visitors with a visor and an entry into a random drawing filled with large prizes! That fundraiser added more than $2,000 to the Foundation's reserves. The evening's activities were sponsored by Darrell Bilke, Thomas & Mimsi Coon, and Alda Buresh. The refreshments and open house tour were sponsored by the Oklahoma Palomino Exhibitors Association and the Palomino Horse Exhibitors of Kansas.
The entire weekend of the 2022 PHBA Convention was met with the opportunity to connect with longtime members and the Foundation's adoration of the future of PHBA with more youth actively involved in the Foundation activities and convention happenings than in the previous several years. It was also a great welcome for 1980-81 PHBA Open Past President and Foundation donor, C.A. Cofer. The entire PHBA membership in attendance celebrated Cofer's 90th birthday with cake and a birthday song. Cofer not only brings many decades of PHBA history to the table, but he also has been a dedicated and loyal member as the Auctioneer for several PHBA Horse Sales, a PHBA Judge holding judging cards in several other Horse Associations, and being a longtime breeder and exhibitor of American Quarter Horses and Palominos with his wife, Jo.
